Michelle Bathroom

Scope of work: This luxurious bathroom was done in a 100 year old historical row home in Philadelphia’s Olde City neighborhood. This was an extremely difficult project but the results were so impressive that it placed in the top 5 of the 2009 Master Design Awards. The customer’s only bathroom in the entire house was a tiny 6’x7’ space and they were in desperate need of a larger, second bathroom. The solution was to convert one of the 3rd floor bedrooms into a master bathroom. Our first order of business was the 100 year old framing. We had to replace most of it to accommodate the new bathroom.

We did not have any plumbing lines on that floor so we had to bring up new electric, drains and water lines.

The toughest task would be getting the materials into the house. The staircase was very small, far too slim to accommodate a full size tub. After considering every option, we were forced to remove the roof. All the fragile materials including the huge tub and the glass shower doors were lifted up and into the bathroom thru the opening in the roof.

The new bathroom now has a 12’x14’ jacuzzi tub, accented by stone tiles and glass, a new Toto dual flush toilet, walk-in shower with river stone floor tiles, travertine tiles on the walls and 2 lines of glass tiles for additional accent. The shower enclosure is frameless 3/8” glass. We added a glass block window inside the shower for more effect. The vanity is custom made with a cast iron sink. We installed a heated floor also for additional comfort, whereby heat radiates to your body making you feel warm and comfortable.

Scope of work: The customer wanted to replace the two bathrooms in her 125 year old house in University City. The project ended up being extremely complicated due to an unexpected situation we were faced with upon striping the bathroom walls to the framing. The structural integrity of the framing was questionable. There was nothing supporting the weight of the floor above. Then we discovered huge cracks in the brick in the exterior wall and realized there needed to be a complete retrofit of the old structure. The solution was to rebuild all the framing and fix the cracks.

With the structural problems behind us, we were able to focus on the bathroom upgrades to which the customer wanted to see a complete transformation. We decided on a high end modern bathroom. We installed carrera marble on the floors and 1x1 blue glass tiles on the walls, floor to ceiling. The tub is a Whirlpool jacuzzi tub with Danze faucets. The standalone vanity has a modern look with marble top and Natural Marble Stone Vessel Vanity Sink Bowl Lavatory Basin. The beautiful glass tiles are unique because the glass reflects the light, which in turn highlights every tile.

In the second bathroom, we removed the old, tiny shower stall and custom built a spacious walk-in shower with river rock tiles on the floor and frameless glass enclosure. The standalone vanity has a modern look with marble top and a glass Vessel Vanity Sink Bowl Lavatory Basin that compliments the shower. We used similar glass tiles in this bathroom as well to create the same aesthetic effects.

Scope of work: This was a very complex project involving the conversion of a bathroom and a small bedroom into one huge master bathroom. We had to relocate walls, the door entrance, and all the plumbing and electric lines. The small 5’x6’ bathroom was merged with its adjacent bedroom to transform into a luxurious master bathroom with 6' jacuzzi tub and walk in shower.
We installed Magica vogue ceramic tiles for the floor and also on the walls from the floor to halfway up. The cabinets are special order from designer Philippe Starck.

Scope of work: This project was a renovation for an institution that cares for people with developmental disabilities, mental health concerns, physical limitations and other challenges. The main focus was to provide a safe and spacious facility. The bathroom was gutted out to the framing. We installed new fire and moisture resistant drywall, layed ceramic tile and reconstructed the shower to include a wetbed. The sink was relocated to an offset position to allow space for the inclusion of a new urinal and a divider for privacy.

“Dremodeling was extremely considerate and very neat and tidy. They even came back to fix a section of wall and ceiling that was ruined when one of the water heaters in an apartment sprung a heavy leak. Free of charge. The company was efficient and helpful and moved quickly without doing a less-than-stellar job. I would call them again...”

Laura Bathroom 1

Scope of work: This customer wanted a big change to their old master bathroom. Due to the small size we did not have many options. We started by gutting the entire space. Then, we added a new energy efficient window. The old tub was replaced with a new walk-in shower with wetbed and sliding glass doors. The toilet and vanity were both replaced and all the fixtures were updated. Tile was added not only to the floor but we ran it half way up the walls as well, adding a little style to a very simple bathroom.

Laura Bathroom 2

Scope of work: As this was the only bathroom in the house and it was on the 2nd floor, the customer wanted to add some value to the house by creating a 1st floor powder room. We were able to take a small room and transform it into a comfortably sized half bathroom.. Installing a glass block window, modern sink and faucet, and a toilet, we easily put together a valuable upgrade for the homeowner.
