Before signing with any contractor or beginning any remodeling work, it is important that a homeowner estimate the value of his home versus the cost of the remodeling work.  Even relatively simple remodeling can be quite expensive.  Make sure that the return rates on the remodeling with be worth the money spent on the project.

Communication

The homeowner needs to communicate with the contractor often. Everything that is supposed to be completed over the course of the remodeling contract should be included in the scope of work within the signed contract. Homeowners should review this to ensure that they fully understand the work to be completed, and should communicate any concerns or complaints clearly to the contractor before any work begins.
