Philadelphia- University City, PA - Bathroom remodeling

Overview and scope of the project onecThis was not a cosmetic makeover – it was a total structural renovation. In so many words, the homeowners wanted a guest bathroom that was constructed like a master bathroom. As the homeowners were looking to achieve an aesthetically unique Zen-like space, we took certain measures to ensure that they would get exactly what they wanted and be satisfied with the project. For instance, the room was taken all the way down to the bare lath and then completely re-built into a very modern bathroom. In the process, the old bathtub was replaced with a glass-enclosed shower while the floors and walls were covered with pebble tiles to compliment the more modern shower. Additionally, the former shower window was covered over with glass blocks. This was done for more privacy, but also to still let plenty of light into the bathroom. This proved to be a nice, modernistic touch that complimented what we had done with the shower as well as the floors and walls. Today, the homeowner has a guest bathroom that they are proud of and that welcomes their overnight visitors as well.     Creative design solved the challenges of space constraints This particular Universal City, PA home was built over 100 years ago and has been added onto by prior homeowners. The project was somewhat challenging as we had to come up with a design and renovation procedure that would solve the issues of the space constraints and mobility limitations that this room contained. Suffice it to say, we had to be pretty creative in the process so that the renovation flowed smoothly yet effectively in order to complete the project in a timely manner. We took out the existing cabinetry, toilet, tub, and sink/vanity bringing the room down to the lath like we mentioned above. This helped us to accomplish our goals and give the homeowners what they wanted. Once we had removed everything, it was much easier to start installing the shower after initially tiling the floors and walls as well as the glass block window in the shower space. What made this remodel so challenging was the bathroom’s odd shape. So we carefully matched the tiles up on all the walls, slanted or straight, and were able to install everything to the homeowner’s exact specifications. Overall results of the project To say the least, the customer was extremely pleased with how we handled the project and the final results. Not only did they feel that we had completed the job to there exact specifications, they felt that we had exceeded their expectations in the process. On a closing note, we walked away from this project knowing that we had gained another satisfied client. one two three four P5290009
